family involvement in the diagnosis of cancer?
My father was diagnosed with lymphoma and one week, he and my mother will discuss the results of PET scan and biopsy of the week. My parents live in Florida and my brother and I live in Chicago. My parents have asked the doctor to enroll my brother and me in the debate on treatment by Teleconference (toll at my expense), and the doctors said they are able to honor this request. Dr. solution was to tape record the conversation and then play the meeting. This seems inappropriate given the fact that my Parents have asked for our participation and we want involved to ensure that the right questions are asked and Dr provides what I consider the right level of detail to provide an answer and not just treat my father as a number. Can someone please give some tips on how to make participation in long distance in the work of a cancer diagnosis?
