How To Join A Conference Call

Is the National Young Leaders State Conference real?
I received a letter in the mail today asking me if I would join this thing called the NYLSC, or the National Young Leaders State Conference. It SAYS it’s from congress, but I’m a little suspicious. Anyone know what it is, if it’s real, or how to find out if it’s real? And if you know anyone, or you yourself have been there I’d like to know how it is. I’m really interested in this and would like all the info. I can get.
yup, im in 8th grade and i got it too. im really considering going because it will look good on college applications and i’d love to meet new friends from all over the country. im pretty sure its not a scam; its right from congress. this was someones review for it on another question:
Hi! Ok i’ll answer this question by question, i just went to NYLSC in Princeton, New Jersey for the first time this past march.
Is it fun?
YESYESYESYES! it is the GREATEST experience EVER! with all the info you get in the mail it seems SO boring, but it’s actually great! when i went, there was a talent show, fun games with our groups, and just funny times with the kids!
is it just for nerds?
no, it’s for leaders, and once you attend this conference you realize there is a BIG difference.
How are you roomed?
Alphabetically, and the chance you don’t like your roomate is slim. Everyone, literally, there is amazing. I went home thinking about how the people i had met here had been the greatest people i had ever met in my entire life. Plus your not in your room THAT much.
Is it just a bunch of lectures?
to tell you the truth, there are barely any lectures. It’s mostly like getting with a group and working together with them, or fun debates, things like that. There are even games! They want to stuff to stick with you so they don’t make it boring.
Do your parents come to any part of it?
Not really, except for the last day IF THEY WANT. The last day there is a QUICK ceromony, you basicaly sit in your seat unless you signed up to make a speech, and then you leave. My dad was there but he was there for the last two seconds, it really isn’t a big deal. Then you leave, get yours last phone numbers screen names facebook and myspace stuff because trust me, you will want to stay in touch with these kids. =]
I hope this all helps, if you need any more info I can answer your questions. =]
i’d really like to do it, preferably not with a friend though. it’d be nice to do it with new people.
