How I can set up a LAN with four desktop computers to share files?
I can use a hub, each team has two connectors ethernet are all XPs
Assuming all are XP: 1) connect all computers to a router. 2) make it possible to automatically assign IP addresses to computers Properties of Local Area Connection, TCP / IP. 3) disable all antivirus, firewall on all computers. 4) name all the teams, all teams establishing the same workgroup in My Computer, Properties, Computer Name. 5) right click on a folder on the C: drive, usually starting with C: temp, allow the exchange files on all computers. 6) See My Network Places, skip. 7), if not, write (computer name # 2) on the # 1. 
Sometimes you may need the same user on all computers, help. 9) also map the drive to a drive letter after successfully navigated. Hope it works and dams. good luck. send me an email more details if necessary.
