Conference Calls Canada

Is this a bit over the top?
Last Friday I missed my son’s parent/teach conference (something I have NEVER done before). Excusses are excusses BUT we have had alot going on lately. We just moved here another country and do not know a soul to watch the kids while gone. My husband had to work late that night so I did not have anyone to stay with the kids to go to the conference. I had no way of getting ahold of the teacher either as the conference time was after hours. The following morning when the school was open, I called the office and did leave him a voice mail message apologizing. Anyway, I’m wondering if it is a bit over the top to bake him cookies as an extension of my apalogy…..I’m from the US and just moved to Canada and I’m sure he’s thinking…”that damn Yank”……what is your opinion?
“You’ll catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.”
I’m a parent and I’ve worked in the school system and your phone call was a good idea. He probably waited for you when he could have been doing else. When you bake the cookies talk to him and let him know what’s going on with you. He might tell you of a way to contact him in cases like that in the future.
Remember, this guy can make yours and your child’s life a nightmare so don’t get on his bad side. Be his favorite parent. Make friends with him and treat him with respect. Let him know that you only care about your child’s education and you want to do the best you can.
