Conference Call English

World Sanskrit Conference In Delhi

World Sanskrit conference in Delhi means hopes, dreams and ambitions of Sanskritists. So far the so called world Sanskrit conferences conducted elsewhere in the different parts of the world took the role of paper presenters’ forums and nothing else. Instead of sending the articles  to the journals,  some scholars present them  on the dais  and they call this process  conference!

In some ‘conferences’ lively Sanskrit had  not  opportunity to have entrance from even back door. Most of the professors with University  Ph.D holders occupied the chairs and talked  in English. But the conference in Delhi shall not be the same. Delhi is capital  city of India and not  Japan, America or England, one has to remember.

I  would like to suggest the authorities of the World Sanskrit conference that they may kindly consider the following topics for discussion. I sincerely hope that this conference shall not take the role of paper presenters’ forum. It  may become real ‘Sanskrit’ conference. Sanskrit  shall be heard everywhere and not English in this conference.

The  art Avadhaaana or focusing cum concentrating. Its situation in various  states, particularly Karnataka-Dr. R.Ganesh’s marvelous presentations.

Sanskrit translations from various languages: Kannada, Tamilu, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarathi, Hindi, Bengali – foreign languages like French and German.

From Tamilu, Vishistadvaita-dravida works from the pen of  Prativaadibhayankara Annangaraachaarya. Magazine-Vaidikamanoharaa.

Sankhya and Hariharananda Vidyaranya.

Saccidaanandendra Saraswathi’s  ‘back to  Shankara’ movement. His works on Adhyasabhaashya. Sacchidaanandendra Saraswathi was a  non-traditional  and rebel scholar of  our times.

Vyakarana darshana(Philosophy of Sanskrit grammar) in three works Vyakaranadarshana pratima, Vyakaranadarshana piithikaa and Vyaakaranadarshana bhuumikaa by Raamaajnaapandeya.

Advaita works- commentary  on Advatasiddhi-Narendranatha Bagachi.

Works of refutation and counter refutations: Particularly from Mathas of southern India-Even though they generate heated arguments, they do give very useful  scholarly guidances like those of  Anantacharya of Melukote.

Works of Navinanyaya-Ramanuja Tatacharya

Commentaries of Tarkasangraha- Shaktisanjiivini

Uttamuru Viraraghavacharya’s contributions to various shastras.

Vaakyaarthas(open debates on traditional  lines.)in Navadvipa, Bangalore, Bhavanagar, Kerala, Andhrapradesha, Kashi, Mithila  and elsewhere.

Vaakyaarthasabhaas in various mathas.

Modern Vedic literature- Maharshi Daivarata.(Chandodarshana)  , Navala Kishora Kankar(Rashtraveda), and Swami Vedabharati(Chaandasii)

Veda citation traditions- Gurukulas in Kerala, Matturu(Karnataka)

Managing Pathashalas(traditional  schools of learning)- Government sponsored and private. Library facilities.

The problems of Sanskrit book  publications.

Introductions in vernacular  languages in Sanskrit books- a farce being enacted by Sanskrit scholars.

A bad habit of  Sanskrit authors’ adding translations in vernacular languages – A ridiculous joke of   Sanskritists of Northern India.

Modern  research works / thesis/ analytical essays  in Sanskrit.

High quality research journals in Sanskrit: Special reference of Saaraswathii Sushama and Saagarikaa.

Modern commentaries on Shastric works- particularly Navyanyaaya. Panchalakshanii, Chaturdashalakshanii are highlighted.

Sanskrit Magazines- Some of the  extinct Magazines- Sarvagandhaa is  highlighted.

Sanskrit Lyrics – traditional Sanskrit classical  music- Sadashiva brahmendra, Swatitirunal so on and so forth.

Post independence Sanskrit literature: Mahakaavyas, Khandakaavyas, novels, short stories, juvenile literature.

Yakshagaanas in Sanskrit.

Sanskrit Music  literature.

Ph.d thesis in Sanskrit- submitted, approved and not yet published.

Samskrta Vaanmaya vishvakosha-  a dream project of Sampurnananda Sanskrit University- What has  happened to  it? What about Laghu Shabdarthasarvasva-  A vast encyclopedia by Paravastu Venkatacharya.

Is there any reader of modern Sanskrit works?

Why always the Sanskritists want to teach and not write? In English, writing is not seen as useless business. But in Sanskrit-teaching method, the supreme dream of every student of Sanskrit is to become teacher and having University-salary. Why the research is not given its fair place? Why the officials of UGC are considering  the research scholars belong to  third class (or even class-less!)? Why the  directors of manuscript research centres are not enthusiastic in publishing works ?

This is the film so many are talking about. In 18 minutes Fishers of Men easily does what hours of apologetic talks on the priesthood and Catholicism struggle to do. This film has even convinced non-Catholics of the importance of the priesthood, and allowed many to understand for the first time what the Catholic priesthood is all about.

We believe that Fishers of Men is anointed and gives us a g…
