Who to call when an employer does wrong?
I live in Pittburgh, PA, I work for a company who is not a stranger to legal battles or investigations. Recently they have given us a memo saying that we should put a deposit down on our uniforms, but at the bottom of the memo it says it is voluntary and not a condition of my continued employment. Today when my manager was on A Conference Call they said if we don’t sign it we will indefinitely be fired. I have been there for 2 years and have been through 3 uniform changes and nothing was ever mentioned before about someday having to pay for our uniforms. I have called the very unreliable HR department but am not sure where to go from there..? Is there anywhere I can call to help us as employees out?

Contact the penn Labor and industry dept and ask. I know in Cali, workers are not required to pay for uniforms. They are suppose to be supplied by the employer, especially if they have employer logo (not able to be used to everyday outside clothing).
